Open Web Society vs. KTFC
A positive development in the MS monoculture front.
Led by Kee-chang KIM, a Korea Univ. Law professor and leader of the Open Web Society, has requested court arbitration against the Korea Financial Telecommunications and Clearing Institute (KTFC) on 7 March at 11AM.
The KTFC controls and supervises money transactions between its 21 member banks in addition to monitoring Internet banking certificate systems.
The timing is in response to the release of the Vista OS which prohibits Active X from being installed. Active X is the main component for verification required in online financial services as well as ecommerce transactions. For a lack of a better reason other than bureaucracy and incompetency for pigeon-holing Korea into adopting a short-sighted standard.
