Tattertools status
The Tattertools experience thus far has been bleak and confusing. I wanted a challenge and it is exactly that, a challenge. The type of issues I’m having isn’t getting the page to look like I want it to be. I wish that was the problem; I haven’t even gotten to that phase yet. The initial issues dealt with my bloody domain and Web hosting services co., Dotname Korea giving me the run around. Bunch of saps. The current issue that I’m beating myself over is getting authorized within the Tattertools setup page. Not sure what’s going on. There’s plenty of online resources, albeit in Korean. I look to the wkend when I can figure out this mess.

Just in case it helps, there is an issue of authorization failure if you install tattertools in your local machine and use the address “localhost” instead of “127.0.0.1″. (see http://openoffice.or.kr/gomme/?p=200)
The workaround is using 127.0.0.1 of course, or editing /etc/hosts or (in windows) c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts to give yourself a hostname.
If you are trying to experiment with tattertools, I would strongly recommend tistory. It’s a service run by daum (daum.net), which offers free tattertools (with unlimited traffic and unlimited storage). Another strong advantage is that you can use your own domain name instead of ugly tistory.com (example: http://trivial.tistory.com, which has a nice design). For example, you can see mine: http://blog.koreanjurist.com. The only thing you need to do is edit your A NAME (my case) or C NAME in your DNS server.
The service is currently beta, and you need an invitation. If interested, just drop me an email. I’ll be happy to invite you to the tistory.
Good luck! It’s not known as one of the greatest or most efficient blogging tools in the world.

Also, I forgot to mention that if you’re using one of the cheap Korean style hosting service, it’s most likely that you have failed because of the mod_rewrite or php version issue. Recently, tattertools has upped the system requirement when upgrading to tattertools 1.x, which most webhosting companies can’t offer right now.
Good luck again.

a77ila, thank you for the valuable tips. I’ll definitely check out the localhost workaround. Dotname Korea had been recommended and I figured they were legitimate as they serve some of the major chaebols. Anyway, thanks again.
