Freeman Thomas loves to tell a story through design
Freeman Thomas is reuniting with J Mays to become Ford’s director of strategic design on Jun 1. He’ll be based in Irvine, CA, and will lead design teams in Dearborn and CA. Last month, he resigned from Chrysler group’s Pacifica Advance Product Design Center in Carlsbad, CA.
Thomas and Mays last worked together in the 1990s, where Thomas was the chief designer of VW’s CA studio, and Mays was Audi’s top designer. Together they created the Concept 1 which led to the hugely popular VW New Beetle, and Thomas would later on design the Audi TT.
