Corporate espionage at Kia

Uh-oh. This is obviously not a good thing.

Current and former Kia employees were caught transferring core technical know-how and LRPP1 documents to the Chinese. Documents containing technical specs and new product development plans are under 24/7 lock down and for-eyes-only. Transferring these to notepad in minute detail is hard pressed. Curious how the suspects got authorization for the soft copies.

What are the current employees’ motive? They’re only hurting themselves (i.e., job security, pay checks) by torpedoing their employer. Where’s the fun in that?

Misdirected rant

I for one being a KorAm Gen 2.01, I lack the patience in recognizing wandering slackers such as this twit. He’s been given an opportunity to voice our unique perspective yet he rants without premise about ‘white privilege.’ At the end of the day, what is it Alex Lee desperately want? “Help less, listen more”–what kind of jibber jabber riddle is this?

I’ve had my fair share of the impossible-to-describe-moments. Among the 7 other foreigners working at Hyundai Motor2 at the time, I was the ultimate poster boy for “being held to unrealistic linguistic and cultural expectations of native Koreans.” I can’t blame whitey because they had it better at times. Instead attack the people doing it to you. In my case, it was Chung Eui-sun’s lieutenants. I obviously lost.^^

Again, the Metropolitican delivers a well thought out piece, something I am unable with my grave indifference.

Anti-FTA or Anti-American?

Korea and the EU started FTA talks today. Incredibly where’s all the anti-FTA protesters? They were actively disruptive and annoying during the KORUS1 negotiations.

From the Chosun Ilbo:

On June 3 last year, three days before the first round of Korea-U.S. free trade negotiations opened, 1,300 anti-FTA protesters held a rally at the Jongmyo Shrine in downtown Seoul. Some 40 anti-FTA demonstrators went to the U.S. to oppose the trade talks, waving banners and took to the streets. Eleven months later, Korea started the first round of free trade talks with the EU on Monday. But there were no big anti-FTA protests in Seoul during the negotiating period. About 20 anti-FTA protesters gathered and called for the cancellation of the trade talks in front of the Shilla Hotel, the negotiating venue, on Monday morning, but that was all. Seoul Metropolitan Police said no anti-FTA rallies were reported.

If so many mainstream Koreans2 have such anti-US hard-ons, why does Korea have the most number of students studying at American schools, outranking countries such as Japan, India and China? Nearly 100,000 of them. Or the daily hundreds who line up at the US Embassy for a travel visa or to get a crack at the golden, American Dream?

Contradictions abound.

My cravings for new WP themes and styles has reached a new all-time high. The until-this-morning KISS theme wasn’t enough; currently non-widgetized. It’s been unstoppable loading and unloading themes, styles, and plug-ins. For the past 13 hours1 I’ve been tweaking around with the highly versatile K2 and its many spawns. The current drool-over is the Invader2 style. It’s brilliantly sweet. And this neat non-claustrophobic KISS variant.

When will it stop?
